Features
20 featuresBonus action
- Weapon MasteryLevel 1
You gain mastery with two Simple or Martial weapons of your choice. Boric has mastery with the Greataxe and Handaxe. Greataxe mastery, Cleave, lets one attack hit a second creature within 5 feet of the first, subject to the weapon mastery rules. Handaxe mastery, Nick, allows the extra attack from the Light property to be made as part of the Attack action instead of as a Bonus Action.
- Rage ImprovementsLevel 3
You can use a Bonus Action to enter your Rage, even if you have already used your Bonus Action that turn. Your Rage can also continue if you do not attack or take damage, provided you use a Bonus Action to extend it as described by the Rage feature.
- Shell DefenseTortleAs an Action, you can withdraw into your shell, gaining a +4 bonus to AC, Advantage on Strength and Constitution saving throws, and the Prone condition. While withdrawn, your Speed is 0, you have Disadvantage on Dexterity saving throws, and you cannot take Reactions. You can emerge as a Bonus Action.

- Unarmored DefenseLevel 1
While you are not wearing armor, your base Armor Class equals 10 + your Dexterity modifier + your Constitution modifier. A shield does not change this calculation unless another feature says it does.

- Primal KnowledgeLevel 3
You gain proficiency in one additional skill from the Barbarian skill list. Boric gains Animal Handling. While raging, you can use Strength in place of another ability for certain Strength-based skill checks, as allowed by Primal Knowledge.
- FrenzyLevel 3
When you use Reckless Attack while raging, the first hit you make on your turn with a Strength-based attack deals an extra 1d6 damage. This is the Frenzy benefit of the Path of the Berserker.

Appearance
Boric is a broad, powerfully built tortle with a weathered olive-green hide and a high-domed shell patterned in muted brown, amber, and sea-green bands. Salt and sun have roughened the skin around his neck and forearms, while years of marching have polished the edges of his claws. He stands with his weight settled evenly on all four feet when waiting, utterly still except for the slow turn of his head. His old military coat has been cut open around the shell, and a red cloth strip is tied around one arm as a sign of his former unit.
Mannerisms
Boric pauses before answering difficult questions, lowering his head until his brow nearly touches the listener's. When standing watch, he slowly taps one claw against the rim of his shell in a steady marching rhythm. He refers to crowded rooms as formations and instinctively places himself between strangers and exits.
Personality
Boric is patient, gentle, and quietly humorous, especially with frightened people and nervous animals. He dislikes boasting and speaks in practical observations, but his restraint disappears when someone preys on the helpless. He enjoys camp chores, old marching songs, and listening to other people explain traditions he has never encountered.
Ideals
Protection. Strength has value only when it is used to shield those who have less of it.
Bonds
The coastal village that raised me still sends children to sea, and I will never allow its people to be abandoned by those sworn to protect them.
Flaws
I assume every plan will fail unless I personally stand at its center, and I become stubborn when someone suggests retreat before everyone is safe.
Quirks
Background
Boric was hatched on a storm-battered coast where young tortles learned early that patience was not the same thing as weakness. When raiders began using the fishing villages as a staging ground, he joined the local militia, not because he loved war, but because he was the largest person willing to stand between frightened families and armed men. His habit of planting himself like a living barricade earned him the nickname Breakwater, and his calm under pressure eventually brought him into a formal infantry company serving the nearest city-state.
