Appearance
Kael is a lean Githzerai with skin the color of dry parchment and eyes that look like polished amber. He wears simple, soot stained wraps that bear no insignias or religious symbols. His head is shaved, revealing several geometric scars across his scalp. He carries no obvious holy symbol and moves with a calculated, minimalist efficiency that borders on the uncanny.
Mannerisms
He has a habit of clasping his hands behind his back and standing perfectly still while others speak, watching for signs of twitching or dilated pupils.
Personality
He is intensely grounded, speaking only when necessary and usually with a dry, analytical tone. Kael does not care for stories of grand destiny or cosmic wars. He watches the way people's hands tremble when they speak of their gods. He is not a man of peace, but a man of clarity, often using brutal honesty to deflate the egos of self appointed prophets.
Ideals
Self Governance. No god or master should have the power to override a soul's innate sense of right and wrong.
Bonds
He carries a single blackened prayer bead from his old monastery as a reminder of what happens when reason dies.
Flaws
He is deeply suspicious of any collective group or organization, often alienating potential allies because he expects them to eventually betray their values for a dogma.
Quirks
Background
Born in the chaotic drift of Limbo, Kael was raised in a monastery that once prided itself on logic but slowly fell into the worship of an entity of pure chaos. He watched his mentors descend into a fever of sacrificial devotion, convinced they were following a higher calling while they systematically destroyed their own history. He did not leave because of a crisis of faith, he left because the lack of humanity in the temple became an intellectual and moral pollutant. He saw that faith, when unchecked, does not elevate people, it merely provides a mask for their darkest impulses. Since that day, Kael has walked the material plane. He does not seek to convert the religious or topple their churches out of spite. He waits at the edges of fanaticism like a surgeon waiting for a gangrenous limb to present itself. When a priest's devotion begins to demand blood or a village's piety leads to the pyre, Kael intervenes. He removes the threat not through prayer, but through the precise application of force, ensuring that the consequences of blind belief do not reach the innocent.
