Appearance
Bell is a lean, copper-skinned tiefling woman with softly curled dark brown hair, rounded ramlike horns, and amber eyes with narrow pupils. Her tail is long and expressive, ending in a small tuft of russet fur. She wears weathered leather armor beneath a moss-green traveling cloak, with small bones, seed pods, and polished river stones braided into her hair. Her hands are often stained with soil and crushed herbs. When she uses Wild Shape, she most often becomes a large brown wolf with a pale muzzle, dark paws, and the same amber eyes.
Mannerisms
Bell pauses before answering difficult questions, tilting her head as if listening to something far away. She refers to groups of people as packs, circles, or flocks depending on her mood. When entering a new place, she quietly identifies the nearest source of clean water and the safest animal trail.
Personality
Bell is soft-spoken, attentive, and unexpectedly funny. She treats injured creatures with patient tenderness but has little patience for people who perform kindness for praise. She prefers practical solutions, quiet roads, and companions who can sit together without filling every silence. In a fight, her gentleness vanishes into focused, protective ferocity.
Ideals
No living thing is disposable. Civilization is valuable only when it remembers that it is part of the living world, not its master.
Bonds
The ravine where Bell joined the wolf-circle is her true home. She will risk almost anything to protect its surviving wolves and the young druid who now guards it. She also carries Piroska's cracked bronze mortar and refuses to let the herbalist's teachings disappear.
Flaws
Bell is slow to forgive deliberate harm, especially harm done to animals or helpless people. When frightened, she becomes controlling and may decide that protecting someone matters more than asking what they actually want. She also distrusts wealthy patrons so instinctively that she sometimes mistakes caution for wisdom.
Quirks
Background
Bell was born in a roadside settlement where people tolerated her so long as she remained useful and quiet. Her infernal features made strangers wary, but the old shepherds noticed that animals did not share that fear. A half-blind herbalist named Piroska taught her to identify plants by scent, listen for changes in birdsong, and answer cruelty without becoming cruel herself. Bell learned the old druidic rites from a wandering circle that met at dusk in a ravine filled with wolf tracks. The circle accepted her after she spent a winter following a wounded she-wolf instead of returning to the safety of the village. Years later, Bell withdrew into a ruined watchtower after discovering that several forests were sickening in the same pattern. Trees blackened from the roots upward, wolves were born with ash-gray eyes, and frightened villagers began hearing voices beneath the soil. In solitude, Bell uncovered an ancient pact between a forgotten fey guardian and a fiendish power that had been quietly renewed by local nobles. She emerged from the tower with a living staff, a moon-bright blade, and the conviction that the land could not defend itself through gentleness alone. Bell now travels as a healer, scout, and sometimes terrifying brown wolf, gathering allies before the pact reaches the oldest groves.
