Appearance
Kleric is a lean human man with sharp, watchful eyes and the kind of stillness that makes rooms feel smaller when he enters them. He keeps his dark hair tied back for ease of movement, with a few silver threads near the temples that seem too early for his age. His clothes blend the scholar and the duelist, layered travel-worn robes cut to permit footwork, with a practical blade at his hip and a spellbook secured like a treasured weapon. A faint, dormant dragonmark rests on his skin, subtle at first glance, but it seems to deepen in presence whenever his arcane power surges.
Mannerisms
He speaks softly and precisely, often pausing as if weighing the exact price of every word. When thinking, he taps two fingers against his spellbook or the hilt of his blade. He tends to angle himself so he can see every exit in a room, and when negotiations grow tense he smiles as though amused by a private joke.
Personality
Kleric is calm, calculating, and hard to rattle, with a scholar's patience and a mercenary's appetite for advantage. He respects competence above kindness, but he is not blind to usefulness, and he can be surprisingly protective of those who prove themselves valuable. He prefers elegant solutions, especially when they let him keep leverage, secrets, and coin all at once.
Ideals
Power is the only reliable currency. Magic, bloodlines, and secrets are all tools for securing one's future, and the wise do not waste such tools on mercy unless mercy serves them.
Bonds
His mother's final letter is sacred to him, and he will not let anyone destroy, steal, or dismiss it. He is also bound to the quest for the untold riches, because he believes it is the thread that ties his parents, his mark, and his future together.
Flaws
He trusts information more readily than people, and he will absolutely choose a profitable lie over a noble truth if it gives him the advantage. He underestimates sentimental loyalty and assumes everyone keeps score the way he does. When his mark flares or his family is mentioned, his composure fractures just enough for anyone observant to exploit.
Quirks
Background
Kleric was born between two legacies, the quicksilver bureaucracy of House Sivis and the steel discipline of House Deneith, though he learned both truths too late to be shaped by either. His mother raised him among mercenary companies that included elven bladesingers, and from them he learned that a blade could be as precise as a spell and twice as honest. She taught him to read a battlefield the way other children read stories, then vanished into the Last War while ensuring he would have a future worth surviving for. Before she died, she left him a letter, one that named his father, confirmed he still lived, and promised that the man had once entrusted a quest for untold riches to those who could carry it. That letter became Kleric's inheritance, along with a dormant mark that seems to wake and darken with every step toward greater power. He followed the path of a wizard not out of wonder, but out of appetite. Knowledge is leverage, leverage is safety, and safety is wealth. The quest for the lost riches is, to him, both a family matter and a practical one, because coin opens doors that honor never will. He keeps his mother's blade work in perfect balance with his spellcraft, not because he reveres her memory in a pure way, but because he knows the world rewards the capable. If the party's road leads him to his father, to treasure, or to the secret behind the mark on his skin, Kleric will smile, bow politely, and quietly decide who must be preserved and who can be used.
“That letter became Kleric's inheritance, along with a dormant mark that seems to wake and darken with every step toward greater power.”
