Appearance
Ketrik is a broad-shouldered aasimar with warm brown skin, close-cropped black hair, and pale gold eyes that seem brighter in dim light. His features are strong and severe, softened only by the faint luminosity that gathers around his hands when his emotions rise. Years of striking practice have left his palms thickened and callused, with knuckles polished smooth from constant work. He wears simple monastery trousers, a weather-faded traveling cloak, and carefully maintained cloth wraps around his forearms and hands. The wraps are repeatedly repaired with mismatched thread, except for one clean white strip taken from his old monastery robes.
Mannerisms
Ketrik rolls his shoulders and flexes his fingers before speaking, as if preparing for a fight. When angered, he becomes unnaturally still and counts his breaths under his breath. He touches the white strip of monastery cloth whenever someone mentions gods, destiny, or forgiveness.
Personality
Ketrik is blunt, observant, and unexpectedly gentle with frightened people and injured animals. He dislikes ceremony, authority, and anyone who uses spiritual language to excuse cruelty. He tries to approach every conflict calmly, but his calm is often tense rather than peaceful. Beneath his restraint is a fierce instinct to defend the vulnerable, even when doing so risks bringing his old fury back to the surface.
Ideals
Freedom. Discipline should make a person capable of choosing their actions, not obedient to someone else's commands. No god, master, or monastery has the right to decide what Ketrik becomes.
Bonds
The monastery that raised him is gone, but Ketrik still carries one strip of its white training cloth. He will protect anyone who reminds him of the students and teachers he failed to save.
Flaws
Ketrik mistakes emotional suppression for self-control. He is terrified that if he admits he is angry, he will become the weapon that destroyed his monastery, so he often denies his feelings until they erupt at the worst possible moment.

Background
Ketrik Meshki was born in a poor village where even a good harvest was cause for celebration. His mother noticed the strange brightness in his eyes and the faint glow that gathered around him whenever he cried or grew angry. She called it a blessing. His father called it a warning. When Ketrik was eight, a traveling monastery recognized his aasimar heritage and offered to take him in. His parents agreed, believing discipline and education would give their son a better life. Ketrik hated the monastery before he learned to love it. He fought constantly, struggled to contain a fury he could not explain, and treated every lesson in patience as another challenge. Eventually, he became devoted to the training because he wanted to prove that anger did not own him. He learned to fight with speed and precision, to breathe through pain, and to turn violent impulse into deliberate movement. During a devastating attack on the monastery, however, that control shattered. Radiant force erupted from his hands as he fought back, killing the attackers but also taking the lives of monks he had known for most of his life. Ketrik left soon afterward and withdrew into a hermit's life, studying old prayers, celestial traditions, medicinal herbs, and the nature of his own strange power. He now travels because isolation has taught him how to quiet his mind, but not how to answer the question that still follows him, if the gods made him this way, why did they put so much anger inside him?
