Appearance
Malice is a tall, lithe drow woman with smooth obsidian skin, waist-length white hair braided with silver spider charms, and vivid red eyes. Her left arm is deliberately bare from shoulder to fingertips, marked with ritual scars and faint strands of spider-silk tattooing. She wears fitted chain mail beneath layered crimson, violet, and black robes, tied with a broad sash. A nodachi-like greatsword rests across her back, while a flail hangs beneath her robes as a deliberately inelegant surprise. Her expression is serene and attentive, as if every conversation were a battlefield awaiting the first mistake.
Mannerisms
Malice keeps her exposed left hand relaxed and open, even during tense conversations. She touches two fingers to her lips before beginning a fight, as though tasting an invisible strand of silk. When listening, she tilts her head slightly and watches the speaker's hands rather than their face.
Personality
Malice is quiet, observant, and unnervingly courteous. She speaks with the formal restraint of a priestess but moves with the economy of a soldier. She admires competence wherever she finds it, though admiration quickly becomes a desire to test, dominate, or recruit. She is fascinated by surface customs, especially honor codes, but interprets them as attractive weaknesses to be exploited.
Ideals
Dominion. The strong do not owe fairness to the weak. All creatures exist somewhere within Lolth's web, and my purpose is to tighten it around those who resist.
Bonds
Lolth is the only mother Malice acknowledges. She will risk almost anything to punish those who insult the Spider Queen or undermine her designs. She also carries a broken silver hairpin from House Travra, the last physical reminder of the name she discarded.
Flaws
Malice mistakes submission for virtue and usefulness for identity. She is quick to obey anyone who convincingly claims to speak for Lolth, even when the order is reckless or clearly manipulative. She cannot resist proving that an apparently stronger opponent can be defeated through treachery, and she takes personal offense when anyone treats her as a person rather than as a divine instrument.
Quirks
Background
Malice was born Aurelia Travra, the youngest daughter of House Travra in Menzoberranzan. From her first breath, the house matrons measured her for priestess robes and taught her that obedience was the purest form of survival. She learned the prayers, the punishments, and the elaborate cruelties expected of a daughter of Lolth, but she never found comfort in the rituals. What she felt instead was anticipation, the cold patience of a hunter waiting beneath a web. During a ceremonial hunt in the caverns below the city, Aurelia was separated from her sisters and surrounded by spiders bearing the markings of Lolth. The goddess did not speak in words. She showed Aurelia a vision of a blade descending through silk, severing every obligation that had bound her. Aurelia abandoned her birth name and emerged as Malice, believing herself chosen not to serve as a priestess, but to become the hand that enforces Lolth's will. She later joined a disciplined martial cadre attached to House Travra, where she studied surface sword traditions through stolen texts and captured soldiers. From those fragments she created the Way of the Black Widow, a doctrine of curved steel, hidden weapons, poisoned edges, feigned weakness, and victory without fairness. Now she travels as Lolth's wandering blade, seeking enemies, opportunities, and proof that she is more useful as a weapon than she ever was as a daughter.
