Appearance
Maeve is a towering human woman with a warrior’s build, six feet of dense muscle, broad shoulders, a narrow waist, powerful legs, and scarred hands built for combat. Her pale, sun-warmed skin is marked by silvered battle scars, most visibly across her chest, eyebrow, and wrist. She has a square jaw, a slightly crooked broken nose, high cheekbones, jade green eyes, and a short crimson mane worn spiked and practical. She favors dark tank tops, loose training pants, and bare feet when she can get away with it. Around her neck hangs a leather cord with a small silver ring, her one cherished ornament.
Mannerisms
Maeve stands with perfect military posture even when relaxed, weight balanced as if she expects an ambush. When thinking, she rolls the silver ring between thumb and forefinger. She speaks sparingly, with clipped precision, but her gaze stays fixed on the person she is addressing. She unconsciously squares her shoulders before conflict, as if settling into armor even when dressed casually.
Personality
Maeve is stern, observant, and hard to impress, but not heartless. She respects competence instantly and loyalty even more. Her humor is dry and rare, usually delivered with a tiny tilt of the mouth that counts, in her world, as a grin. She values directness, dislikes excuses, and has a protective streak that becomes almost frightening when someone she considers hers is threatened.
Ideals
Duty. Strength should shield others, not excuse cruelty. A true warrior proves worth through restraint, courage, and the willingness to stand where others cannot.
Bonds
Maeve keeps faith with the comrades who stood beside her in the worst fighting of her life. She guards the silver ring at her throat as if it were a sworn vow, because to her it is. She will not abandon the weak, nor allow her name to be used to threaten those under her protection.
Flaws
Maeve trusts discipline more than sentiment, and that makes her seem cold when people want comfort. She can become tyrannical under stress, barking orders even when no one asked for them. She has little patience for cowardice, indecision, or theatrical bravado, and she sometimes mistakes silence for weakness. When a fight is on, she is tempted to solve every problem the hard way.
Quirks
Background
Maeve was raised in the hard discipline of barracks and drill yards, where strength was never admired for its own sake, only for what it could protect. She learned early that every bruise had a lesson and every scar had a name. By the time most people were choosing trades, she was learning formations, fieldcraft, and the ugly mathematics of survival. Her talent for battle was obvious, but what set her apart was not raw violence. It was control. She could hold a line when others broke, read an enemy’s posture before the first strike, and turn panic into precision. Years of service made her into a living weapon and, eventually, a Battle Master. She rose through campaigns by surviving the battles that broke better men and by refusing to waste the lives under her command. Now, in the quieter age after war, she carries herself like someone still expecting the next horn call. She keeps the silver ring around her neck as a reminder of the life she meant to return to, or the one she still owes. In modern clothes and a modern home, she seems almost out of place, like an ancient spear leaned against a sleek chair, but the calm in her posture only deepens the feeling that she has already seen, and endured, too much to ever be ordinary again.
“She learned early that every bruise had a lesson and every scar had a name.”
