Appearance
Silas is a man of lean, corded muscle with short-cropped dark hair and a permanent shadow of stubble. His skin is tanned and marked with old scars from his time in the city gutters. He wears practical, dark-stained leathers and a cloak that seems to shift colors in the shadows. His eyes are a sharp, piercing gray, always darting to exits and potential threats.
Mannerisms
Silas speaks in a low, gravelly whisper and has a habit of tapping his fingers against his thigh in a rhythmic, nervous cadence when he is bored or impatient.
Personality
I am cold, calculating, and rarely waste words. I view social interactions as transactions or tactical assessments. While I lack warmth, I am intensely reliable once a contract is signed or a word is given. I trust my instincts more than I trust anyone's promises.
Ideals
Logic. Emotions cloud judgment and lead to mistakes. Clear thought is the only way to ensure survival. Integrity. A man's word is the only true currency he possesses in a world of lies.
Bonds
I still look over my shoulder for the Night-Stalkers, and I will eventually need to clear my name or finish them off. I owe my life to a hermit who sheltered me when I first fled the city.
Flaws
I am slow to trust and often assume the worst of people's motives. I have a hard time functioning in polite society and tend to be blunt to the point of offense.
Quirks
Background
Silas began his life as a specialist for the Night-Stalkers, a notorious urban syndicate. Unlike common thugs, Silas was a ghost, used for recon and moving contraband through the most dangerous wilderness paths around the city. He learned to track city patrols like animals and use the environment as a weapon. His loyalty to his guild was absolute until he was framed for a murder that cost the syndicate a fortune, making him a target for both the law and his former brothers. Fleeing into the deep wild, Silas found that the brutality of nature was cleaner than the politics of crime. He survived by applying his criminal expertise to the forest, becoming a predator that moves between both worlds. He eventually developed a personal code of conduct, a rigid set of internal laws that govern his survival. He no longer steals for greed, but he will take what is necessary to maintain his freedom and protect those who pay for his services. Now operating as a freelance guide and bounty hunter, Silas uses his intimate knowledge of shadows and tracks to find people who don't want to be found. He views himself as a neutral party in the conflicts of the world, following the flow of the hunt rather than the dictates of lords or kings.
