Appearance
A sturdy human woman with sun-browned skin, dark hazel eyes, and thick black hair usually braided with blue thread. A pale scar crosses her left eyebrow, and her hands are rough from farm work, smithing repairs, and years of drilling with shield and spear. She wears well-maintained chain mail over a faded russet tunic, with a weathered blue cloak pinned at the shoulder.
Mannerisms
Samira checks every doorway, bridge, and roofline before settling down. When thinking, she rubs the iron pin from the broken sluice gate between her thumb and forefinger. She addresses frightened animals in the same calm voice she uses with frightened people.
Personality
Plainspoken, observant, and stubbornly dependable. Samira prefers useful questions to clever conversation and quietly notices who has been left out, overworked, or ignored. She is warm with laborers, children, and animals, but becomes guarded around officials and wealthy patrons.
Ideals
Responsibility. Strength exists to be placed between the vulnerable and whatever threatens them. If I can help, I have no right to look away.
Bonds
The people of Qasr Namar sheltered and raised me, and I will never abandon them to landlords, raiders, or nobles who treat them as expendable.
Flaws
I distrust anyone who speaks too smoothly about sacrifice, especially when they are not the one expected to make it. I can also mistake caution for cowardice and rush into danger simply to prove that I am not afraid.
Quirks
Background
Samira Qadira was born in a farming village where the irrigation channels failed every summer and the local tax collectors arrived every autumn with heavier demands. Her mother kept the village accounts, her father repaired plows and cart wheels, and Samira learned early that survival depended on practical courage rather than grand speeches. When a flash flood broke the old stone sluice, she organized the villagers into work crews, then held a collapsing gate in place long enough for three children trapped downstream to escape. The village survived, but the story traveled farther than she expected. A few months later, raiders descended on the valley. Samira took up her father's old spear, gathered farmhands around the village well, and turned the narrow lanes into defensible ground. They drove the raiders away before any mercenary company could arrive. Since then, Samira has traveled beyond her home to learn the soldier's trade properly, determined to become the kind of fighter who protects people before danger reaches their door. She still carries the broken iron pin from the sluice gate as a reminder that a shield is most useful when someone else is standing behind it.
