Appearance
A lean human man with ash-brown hair kept short beneath a plain hood, weathered hands stained with soot and ink, and pale eyes that seem to catch firelight too easily. Old burn scars trace one side of his neck and forearms. He wears travel-stained robes over practical boots, a silver holy symbol at his throat, and carries a crystal focus wrapped in prayer ribbons.
Mannerisms
Speaks softly and deliberately, often tracing a prayer-sign in the air before making a promise. He counts by touching the knots in his prayer cord, and when anxious he recites blessings under his breath as though warding off an unseen draft.
Personality
Patient, compassionate, and quietly vigilant, Osbert listens longer than most people speak. He prefers reconciliation to punishment, but once he recognizes a true danger he becomes unflinchingly direct.
Ideals
Mercy. Power is only worth having if it can be used to spare others from the ruin that shaped me.
Bonds
He keeps the memory of his ruined village alive in every prayer, and he has vowed that its people will not be forgotten, even if he is the last witness left to name them.
Flaws
He has a habit of treating every strange silence like the first moment before disaster, and he sometimes overcommits to protecting people who do not want to be protected. When frightened, he becomes controlling, as if perfect caution could bargain with fate.
Quirks
Background
Osbert de Waryn was born in Supra Mundus, in a small farming village that lived by grain, weather, and hard-handed prayer. He was a quiet child until his fifth year, when the village began whispering that the boy’s temper could light candles without touch and stir soup with no spoon at all. The local temple took notice, and the priests, seeing both blessing and burden in him, taught him rites, scripture, and the careful shape of reverence. Osbert learned quickly, not because he was devout in the simple sense, but because he understood that names, prayers, and ceremonies were ways of keeping terrible things at a distance.
