Appearance
Malice is a tall, lean drow woman with obsidian skin, long white hair braided with black silk and tiny silver spider charms, and vivid violet eyes. Her left arm is deliberately uncovered from shoulder to wrist, marked with ritual scars and fine black web tattoos. She wears layered charcoal leather armor beneath flowing crimson, plum, and saffron robes, tied for unrestricted movement. Two curved scimitars rest at her hips, while a lacquered longbow is carried across her back. Her expression is serene, almost devotional, even when blood is on her hands.
Mannerisms
Malice speaks softly and precisely, rarely raising her voice. She pauses before answering as if listening to an unseen spider. When entering a room, she studies the ceiling before the people. She addresses Lolth as Mother in private and refers to herself in the third person during formal vows.
Personality
Malice is controlled, observant, and intensely devotional. She treats every conversation as a contest of position and every fight as a religious ceremony. She is not needlessly loud or theatrical, preferring to let others underestimate her until the moment she chooses to strike. Despite her cruelty, she is fascinated by genuine affection because she has never known whether Lolth’s attention is love, ownership, or both.
Ideals
Utility. A life has value only in what it accomplishes for the Spider Queen. To be used perfectly is closer to holiness than to be loved.
Bonds
Lolth is my mother, my sovereign, and the only patron whose judgment matters. I will return to Menzoberranzan one day, not as Aurelia Travra, but as the blade that House Travra helped forge and failed to control.
Flaws
I cannot distinguish mercy from weakness, and I secretly fear that without Lolth’s commands there may be nothing inside me at all. When someone questions my devotion, I escalate until their doubt has been silenced or their blood has answered for it.
Quirks
Background
Malice was born Aurelia Travra beneath the jeweled vaults of Menzoberranzan, a daughter of House Travra raised for one purpose, to become a priestess of Lolth. Her childhood was a procession of sacred examinations, venom trials, scripture recitations, and lessons in cruelty. She learned early that obedience was not the same as devotion. Obedience was a mask worn to survive, while devotion was the willingness to become useful to the goddess in every possible way. During a rite held in a cavern thick with webs, the spiders of Lolth descended upon her. They did not bite. They circled her, crowned her, and led her to a hidden altar where a black blade waited beneath a veil of silk. Malice understood the message as both blessing and command. She abandoned Aurelia Travra, renounced House Travra, and accepted herself as a weapon made flesh. Her martial training became the foundation of the Way of the Black Widow, a bastardized surface samurai discipline that values patience, misdirection, concealed weapons, poisoned edges, and sudden violence. She now travels as Lolth’s blade and general, seeking enemies of the Spider Queen while testing whether every victory makes her more divine or merely more useful.
“Her childhood was a procession of sacred examinations, venom trials, scripture recitations, and lessons in cruelty.”
