Appearance
Venna is a compact, muscular human woman with a commanding presence that makes her seem larger than she is. Her dark hair is cropped close, the sides shaved, with a stark silver streak at one temple. Intricate tattoos cover her shoulders, arms, collarbone, ribs, and back, forming jagged, twisting patterns that resemble both battle scars and deliberate arcane diagrams. She favors a tight black shirt beneath a torn leather jacket, fitted dark trousers, scuffed boots, fingerless gloves, and a deep crimson scarf wrapped around her throat. Her eyes are intense and watchful, her smile usually one sharp inch away from a threat. A studded bracelet conceals a slender thieves' tool compartment, and her movements are slow, precise, and unnervingly graceful.
Mannerisms
Venna speaks softly when she is most dangerous. She holds eye contact a moment too long, tilts her head as though listening for a hidden confession, and casually touches the knot of her crimson scarf when deciding whether to lie. She moves with deliberate economy, never fidgeting unless she wants someone to notice. Her smiles arrive late and vanish early.
Personality
Venna is sharply observant, theatrically composed, and unnervingly attentive. She makes people feel studied rather than watched, as if every breath and hesitation is part of a private game. She is flirtatious in a dangerous, needling way, generous when generosity creates leverage, and openly amused by social discomfort. Her obsession with the person she loves is sincere, but sincerity does not make it healthy. She wants to be indispensable, unforgettable, and impossible to leave.
Ideals
Control. The world is built on stories, and the person who controls the story controls the room. I will never again let someone else decide what I am allowed to be.
Bonds
The person Venna loves most once gave her a name, a place to belong, and a reason not to disappear. She is fiercely obsessed with protecting that person, even when protection becomes surveillance, manipulation, or possession. She also keeps the broken signet of her former mentor, who vanished after leaving Venna a coded warning about the criminal network that once owned their lives.
Flaws
Venna confuses intensity with intimacy. Once she decides someone matters, she begins testing, provoking, monitoring, and manipulating them, convinced that possession is simply another form of protection. She cannot resist a dangerous secret, especially when leaving it alone would be wiser. Her confidence is deliberate, but underneath it lies a terror of being discarded, exposed, or made ordinary.
Quirks
Background
Venna was born in a crowded human river district where names were cheap, debts were permanent, and a clever lie could keep food on the table. She learned early that people rarely wanted the truth. They wanted reassurance, admiration, fear, or permission to believe what they already hoped was real. By adolescence, she had become a practiced charlatan, selling counterfeit charms, forged credentials, and carefully staged miracles to merchants, minor nobles, and desperate families. Her first real mentor was a disgraced illusionist who taught her that deception was not merely hiding the truth. It was choosing which truth someone would notice.
“She learned early that people rarely wanted the truth.”
