Appearance
Thokk is a mountain of a man with grayish skin and a thick, sea-salt encrusted beard braided into three heavy points. He wears no shirt, displaying thick muscular arms covered in fading blue nautical tattoos of anchors and sea monsters. He wears heavy canvas breeches stained with tar and salt, and carries a massive greataxe that looks more like a sharpened anchor. His eyes are a piercing, icy blue that seems to scan the horizon even when indoors.
Mannerisms
Thokk often squinted as if looking into a bright sun and speaks with a deep, rumbling voice that sounds like grinding pebbles.
Personality
Thokk is generally stoic and quiet, possessing the patience of the tide. However, when his blood is up, he becomes a force of nature as violent as a winter squall. He is fiercely loyal to those he considers his 'crew' and has a deep respect for the raw power of the natural world. He tends to view terrestrial problems through the lens of maritime life, often using nautical metaphors to explain complex situations.
Ideals
Freedom. The sea is wide and no one should be bound by the chains of petty laws or masters.
Bonds
I still carry a piece of the mast from the 'Salty Tusk', the ship that gave me a home when no one else would.
Flaws
I am prone to 'landsickness', becoming irritable and dizzy when away from the ocean for too long. My anger is like a tide, once it starts rising, nothing can stop the flood.
Quirks
Background
Born in a rough port town to a human dockworker and an orcish mercenary, Thokk was never comfortable on land. He took to the sea at the age of twelve, serving on various whaling vessels and merchant cogs. He discovered that the ocean didn't care about the shape of his tusks or the color of his skin. Only the strength of his arm and the steadiness of his heart mattered when the mast was cracking and the waves were high. It was during a terrible typhoon that Thokk's primal rage first manifested. When a rogue wave swept the captain overboard, Thokk went into a trance, holding the broken rudder steady with his bare hands against the crushing weight of the sea. After the ship was safely harbored, he felt a strange connection to the great bear, a creature of both land and water that mirrored his own unyielding nature. He left the sailing life to seek greater challenges, carrying the spirit of the storm within him. He now wanders the land, though he never strays too far from the sound of the surf.
