Appearance
A small, round-faced lightfoot halfling with warm brown skin, chestnut curls, and lively dark eyes. He wears a well-tailored but travel-worn coat in moss green and cream, with a faded blue ribbon tied around one wrist. His lute is visibly worn smooth where his thumb rests, and he carries the faint, noticeable scent of beeswax, lavender, and old parchment.
Mannerisms
Osmund leans toward whoever is speaking as if sharing a secret, taps rhythms against his lute case, and gives a tiny formal bow whenever someone says something unexpectedly honest.
Personality
Warm, theatrically polite, and endlessly curious, Osmund treats every conversation as both a performance and an opportunity to learn. He has a talent for making people feel important, though his instinct to turn tense moments into jokes occasionally irritates those who want solemnity.
Ideals
Freedom. A person's worth is shown by what he chooses to do, not by the family name, uniform, or title attached to him.
Bonds
He is determined to restore the homes and dignity of the tenant families whose cause drove him from his family estate. He also carries his mother's old lute and refuses to let its music be silenced.
Flaws
He cannot resist publicly correcting a powerful person, even when silence would be wiser. He also spends money too readily on food, music, and helping strangers, then insists that the next town will surely pay him better.
Quirks
Background
Osmund Bellmere was born into a minor halfling noble family whose estate sat beside a busy river road. His family possessed little real power, but they maintained an old tradition of hosting travelers, musicians, and petitioners. Osmund grew up listening to merchants argue over supper, widows plead their cases, and wandering performers turn hardship into laughter. He learned early that a well-timed song could open a locked door more reliably than a family crest, and that people often reveal their true needs when they believe they are merely being entertained. When a corrupt magistrate attempted to seize several tenant families' homes through forged debts, Osmund exposed the scheme during a public feast by turning the evidence into a satirical ballad. The scandal saved the families, but embarrassed his relatives and made Osmund unwelcome at court. He left with his lute, his signet ring, and a conviction that noble birth is only useful when spent on people who have none. Now he travels as a performer, negotiator, and occasional nuisance to the powerful, gathering stories and allies wherever he goes.
