Appearance

Panniz is a lean wood elf woman with copper-brown skin, sharp green eyes, and long black hair braided with dried leaves, stolen coins, and tiny bone charms. A faint scar crosses her left eyebrow. She wears weather-stained leather armor beneath a moss-green cloak, carries a wooden shield painted with a crooked white fox, and keeps a sickle and two daggers within easy reach.

Mannerisms

Panniz rarely stands still. She tests the balance of nearby objects, traces invisible patterns in the air with one finger, and tilts her head as though listening to distant birds. When lying, she smiles too brightly and begins sorting her coins by size.

Personality

Panniz is clever, irreverent, and intensely observant. She laughs at danger when frightened and prefers practical solutions over noble speeches. She is generous toward fugitives, hungry travelers, and small creatures, but she has little patience for wealthy collectors, bureaucrats, or anyone who claims ownership over the natural world.

Ideals

Freedom. No law made by a lord, guild, or priest is more important than the freedom of living things to grow, change, and survive.

Bonds

The hidden grove that awakened her druidic gifts is threatened by a mining consortium. Panniz will risk almost anything to protect it and recover the stolen seedling that remains connected to its roots.

Flaws

Panniz treats every locked door as a personal insult and often steals something simply because she can. She is suspicious of authority, dismissive of civilized customs, and has difficulty admitting when a reckless plan has failed. Her fear of helplessness can make her cruel toward people who depend too heavily on others.

Quirks

Names every crow she encounters and insists they are all different individuals.
Leaves a tiny spiral of twigs beside any door she successfully opens.
Keeps one coin from every successful burglary and refuses to spend them.
Whispers apologies to plants before cutting branches or gathering herbs.

Background

Panniz was raised on the edge of an ancient woodland where elven wardens protected sacred groves and smugglers used the old forest roads to move contraband. She learned the language of birds before she learned the language of laws, and she discovered early that both could be useful. As a young elf, she became a courier and burglar for a loose network of poachers, fences, and desperate villagers. She specialized in entering places that were considered impossible to enter, especially manor houses built over forgotten roots and ruins. Her criminal career changed when she stole a silver reliquary from a noble collector. The relic was not valuable because of its metal, but because it contained a seed from a dying elder tree. Panniz could have sold it for a fortune, yet the seed called to something wild within her. She returned it to the forest, where it took root and revealed a hidden grove poisoned by the collector's mining operation. The grove accepted her as its protector, but not as a saint. Panniz now travels as a druid, thief, and occasional saboteur, stealing maps, keys, ledgers, and anything else that can help the wild survive. She is willing to break laws without hesitation, but she is less willing to break promises.
