Founder’s Story

The faction began when three very different figures convened after a coastal siege 180 years ago. A disgraced archivist, a retired naval quartermaster, and a visionary artificer combined disparate collections of maps, war journals, and salvaged wards. They formed a compact to preserve and control dangerous knowledge that their rulers had proven both incompetent and corrupt. At first their work was salvage and preservation. As they grew wealthy through sales and research contracts they slowly shifted into information brokerage and influence. A watershed moment occurred 110 years ago when the cartel of port lords attempted to outlaw private archives. The founders led a campaign of blackmail, political theater, and strategic leaks that toppled two port lords and preserved private stewardship of certain relics and parchments. From that victory their model became more ambitious and more ruthless.
