They balance a public mercenary offer with covert rituals and occasional acts of terror when necessary.

Founder’s Story

The Iron Chorus of Signalis traces its origin to a battered warband led by the half-orc war-priest Karras Vhen. After a decisive but pyrrhic victory in a border skirmish, Karras claimed a vision: the god Signalis had spoken through the suffering of his men and commanded them to prepare the world for his return. Karras gathered outcasts, sellswords, fallen templars, and refugees who had seen too much war and forged them into a liturgical fighting order. Early decades were spent reconciling mercenary discipline with a brutal faith in war as transcendence. Their name comes from the nightly liturgy when dozens of iron plates were struck in unison to 'tune' the faithful to Signalis. Over a century the chorus grew into a mercenary power, but a watershed event eighteen years ago defined their modern character. A failed ritual in the border city of Velynaj meant to tear a hole in the sky instead summoned a plague of battle-locusts. Towns burned, the chorus' leadership were discredited, and the order split. The current hierarchy emerged from the ashes: a pragmatic priesthood allied closely with mercenary captains, resolved to succeed where past zealotry failed.
