The Rings of the Hollowed Bough
The Circle began as a refuge for displaced naturalists and sailors. Over two centuries they grew into a formal druidic institution bound to the Tree of Melora. Major triumphs include repelling the ironworks clear-cutting and securing a legal sanctuary for the grove. Setbacks include a plague of blight two generations ago that killed many elder plants and forced the Circle to accept trade with a nearby settlement for critical seeds. The mid-history schism occurred when a charismatic Tideborn leader tried to convert the Circle into a militant order; that rebellion failed but left an undercurrent of martial pragmatism. Today the Circle balances ritual piety with hard diplomacy as it prepares to perform the sealing rite.
