The Band began as a small warband protecting a holy child and refugees during the Scouring Wars. Over the first 40 years it institutionalized: establishing training rites, a charter, and the first continental safehouse network. After the Silver Bridge stand 62 years ago the Band was recognized by several states as a legitimate peacekeeping force. During the Age of Treaties the Band negotiated paid contracts with city-states while enforcing the core vow of not charging children. In recent decades the Band expanded into policing migration corridors, mediating between refugee camps, and setting up permanent sanctuaries. Internal reforms followed episodes of corruption where some captains took excessive 'reconstruction fees'. Reforms created the Pauldron oversight system and codified the Aegis Council. The Band now spans multiple nations but faces new challenges from organized trafficking networks and states pushing back on mercenary influence.

Founder’s Story

When the Scouring Wars shattered borderlands 120 years ago, a newborn silver dragon hatching in a ruined sanctum was discovered by a midwife and hidden among refugees. The dragon, later named Panvilatus, was believed to be a patron spirit who guided a small band of defenders who protected the last holy child from slaughter. That original guardianship formed the vow that matured into the Silver Band: protect the innocent, charge payment where due, never take from children. The Grand Aegis emerged as the child grew into a spiritual and political figure. Over decades the Band formalized ranks, trade relationships, and continental reach. A watershed moment came 62 years ago when the Band held the Silver Bridge against three invading regiments to protect thousands of refugees. That stand made them a political force and codified the nonpayment-from-children doctrine into an enforceable charter.
