The Laughing Curtain
Originally an informal network of Tharizdun-adjacent pranksters who performed blasphemous skits to mask their worship, the group formalized when Sarn found a dark shard and used his newfound influence to centralize worship. For twenty years they worked as a traveling troupe, performing near noble courts and using satire to blackmail officials. After their ritual mishap that induced widespread madness, the organization fractured. One faction doubled down on sacred aims, seeking artifacts tied to Tharizdun and interpreting madness as holy. The other, pragmatic faction embraced mercenary work to fund the cult's needs and keep the group hidden. Over the decades they carved a niche as specialists in 'staged chaos'—highly theatrical operations that sow panic and remove obstacles. They survived purges by going deep into the criminal underworld and using their performances to manipulate public opinion. Today they are a medium-sized order with broad black-market ties, confident enough to accept lucrative contracts but always pulling the strings toward hidden ritual goals.
