Its story
A heavy mantle of petrified ironwood fibers, its layered bark-dark weave continually slipping between younger, supple growth and ancient, stone-hard wood. Emerald veins pulse beneath the surface like sap lit by moonlight. At its hem, tiny leaves appear, brown, and vanish, while the air around the wearer carries the scent of rain-soaked bark and deep earth.
Lore
Among Verdara's deep-root communities, the mantle is called a promise made by the forest to remember what might yet be lost. Its flickering fibers echo the Verdant Heart Nexus, where ley-light gathers beneath the jungle and even the direction of gravity may shift without warning.
History
Verdaran lore attributes the mantle to leywrights who sought to protect the routes and settlements around the Verdant Heart Nexus from its erratic surges. Stories claim it passed between Root-Sovereigns and mortal wardens, appearing at times of danger before vanishing into the living roots. No surviving record establishes its first wearer.
