Its story
A palm-sized crystal lens sits within a hinged bronze frame, its surface clouded with delicate blue-gray bands like waves seen from beneath the sea. Fine etched marks ring its rim, resembling both a map’s contour lines and the branching paths of underground streams. When turned toward a concealed passage or hidden influence, the crystal briefly reveals faint ripples and glimmers within its depths.
Lore
Among the riverfolk, the lens is said to remember every path water has ever taken. Its gift is modest, but it has guided travelers toward buried springs, hollow stone, and minds subtly bent by unseen powers.
History
The lens was made for surveyors mapping the dangerous caverns beneath Nhal. After the city flooded, it passed through the hands of salvagers and river guides before being entrusted to the heroes as payment for the quest The Price of Deep Water.
