Its story
This slender staff is forged entirely from pure gold, its seamless length worked into the shape of a royal sceptre. Fine lines of an ancient crest coil around the shaft, interrupted where the emblem has been deliberately broken. A crown-shaped head holds a cold blue gemstone that sheds a dim, moonlit gleam. When the staff is near a grave, grains of sand crawl up its surface, and the air takes on the scent of old incense and damp stone.
Lore
The staff is said to turn a ruler's claim over the living into dominion over the dead. Its gold was chosen not for purity alone, but because Vhalor believed a sovereign's authority should never tarnish, even in the grave. Tomb-robbers tell of seeing blue light spill beneath the sarcophagus lid before the staff ever moves.
History
Made for Graf Aurelian Vhalor, the Unresting Sleeper, the staff was placed in his tomb beside his sarcophagus. Its power lies dormant while he sleeps. When the Graf awakens, the staff answers his grasp and becomes an instrument for raising his dead servants.
