The Last Flight

What was once a crude single-shot revolver has been rebuilt into an elegant six-barreled pepperbox of dark steel, pale silver, and blackened brass. Six slender barrels rotate around a central spindle, each engraved with feather-like lines that converge toward the muzzle. Seen from directly ahead, the barrels subtly form the shape of a raven's eye. The grip is polished black wood veined with pale gray, with a small silver raven set into either side, each clutching a thread representing mortal life. Five engraved ravens fly toward the muzzle along the frame, while a sixth faces backward. Nearly invisible runes of passage, memory, fate, and mortality line the weapon's body. The hammer resembles a raven's hooked beak, and a black feather charm hangs from the grip on a short silver chain. The feather cannot be damaged by ordinary weather, flame, or battle. When loaded, violet-white light briefly traces the engravings. Between shots, the wielder hears the distant flutter of wings, and dark wisps shaped like scattered feathers trail from each fired barrel.
