Umbral Psion Apex - AI-generated fantasy Monster

Umbral Psion Apex

Urban legends describe a giant shadow woman that climbs the outside of towers and steals the breath and certainty from spellcasters before tearing them apart. In truth, the creature is a highly intelligent psionic predator that learned to weaponize magical instability. It understands supply chains, fear, loyalty, and bribery as well as it understands claws and psychic force. Some accounts say it is born in places where trauma, secrecy, and arcane contamination overlap, then grows stronger by feeding on life essence and the attention of the terrified.

Shadow Climbera. The umbral psion has advantage on Dexterity (Stealth) checks made in dim light, darkness, or on rooftops and narrow ledges. It can move across vertical surfaces and upside down on ceilings while leaving no visible handholds behind.
Psionic Distortion Field. The psion projects a 30-foot-radius field of psychic distortion around itself. Other psionic or magically sensitive creatures can feel the field as a crawling pressure before they can see it. Spells cast by creatures of the psion's choice within the field require a Constitution saving throw to maintain concentration after each spell is cast. In addition, the first time each turn a chosen creature casts a spell of 1st level or higher in the field, it takes 10 () psychic damage.
Pouncing Savagery. If the psion moves at least 20 feet straight toward a creature and then hits it with a Claw attack on the same turn, the target must succeed on a Strength saving throw or be knocked prone. If the target is Medium or smaller, the psion can immediately make one additional Claw attack against it.
Unblinking Predator. The psion can’t be surprised while conscious, and it has advantage on saving throws against being charmed, frightened, or stunned.
Multiattack. The umbral psion makes two Claw attacks and one Mind Lance attack.
Claw. Melee Weapon Attack: to hit, reach 10 ft., one target. Hit: 25 () slashing damage plus 18 () psychic damage. If the target is Medium or smaller, it is grappled (escape ). Until this grapple ends, the target is restrained and the umbral psion can't use Claw on another target.
Mind Lance. Ranged Psionic Attack: to hit, range 120 ft., one target the umbral psion can see. Hit: 36 () psychic damage, and the target must succeed on a Intelligence saving throw or be stunned until the end of its next turn.
Psionic Distortion Field. The umbral psion emits a burst of warped psychic static in a 30-foot radius centered on itself. Each creature of the psion's choice in that area must make a Intelligence saving throw. On a failure, a creature takes 45 () psychic damage and can't cast spells or activate magical items for 1 minute. On a success, the creature takes half damage and suffers no additional effect. A creature affected by this distortion can repeat the save at the end of each of its turns, ending the effect on itself on a success.
Crushing Thought. The umbral psion targets one creature it can see within 60 feet. The target must succeed on a Wisdom saving throw or be paralyzed until the end of its next turn. While paralyzed this way, the target also takes 10 () psychic damage at the start of each of its turns.
Fray the Pattern. When a creature the umbral psion can see casts a spell within 60 feet of it, the psion can force that creature to make a Constitution saving throw. On a failure, the spell is cast with disadvantage on attack rolls, or the first damage roll of the spell is halved, at the DM's choice. If the spell requires concentration, the caster makes the normal concentration check with disadvantage.
Shadow Step. The umbral psion moves up to half its speed without provoking opportunity attacks. If it begins or ends this movement on a vertical surface or rooftop edge, it can make one Claw attack.
Psychic Drag (Costs 2 Actions). The umbral psion targets one creature it can see within 60 feet. The target must succeed on a Wisdom saving throw or be pulled up to 20 feet toward the psion and knocked prone.
Warp the Weave (Costs 3 Actions). The umbral psion uses Psionic Distortion Field if available. If the field is already active or unavailable, it makes one Mind Lance attack instead.
