Umbra-Leviathan

Sailors tell of black tides that swallow whole brigantines and of a low keening that steals the will to row. Gravewardens mutter of 'shadow-whales' that gather where grief pools and feed on the fear of the living. Scholars debate whether Umbra-Leviathans are spawned by malevolent gods or by long-dead sorcerers who wove hunger into shadow.

Shadowmeld. The Umbra-Leviathan has advantage on Stealth checks made in dim light or darkness. It treats difficult terrain that is shadow as normal movement.
Siphon Vitality. When the Umbra-Leviathan reduces a creature to 0 hit points with a melee attack, it regains 10 hit points.
Empowered in Gloom. If the Umbra-Leviathan starts its turn in dim light or darkness it has advantage on attack rolls and its tentacle attacks deal an extra 7 () psychic damage.
Multiattack. The Umbra-Leviathan makes two Tentacle Slam attacks. If it is raging its tentacles deal an additional 7 () psychic damage.
Tentacle Slam. Melee Weapon Attack: to hit, reach 10 ft., one target. Hit: 13 () bludgeoning damage plus 9 () psychic damage. If the target is Large or smaller it must succeed on a Strength saving throw or be grappled (escape ).
Rending Maw. Melee Weapon Attack: to hit, reach 5 ft., one target. Hit: 10 () piercing damage. If the target is currently grappled by the Umbra-Leviathan, the target takes an extra 7 () psychic damage and the Umbra-Leviathan can attempt to crush it: the target must succeed on a Constitution saving throw or be stunned until the end of its next turn.
Dread Resonance (Recharge 5-6). The Umbra-Leviathan emits a low, bone-deep moan. Each creature of the Umbra-Leviathan's choice within 60 feet that can hear it must succeed on a Wisdom saving throw or be affected. On a failed save a creature takes 18 () psychic damage and is frightened for 1 minute. A frightened creature can repeat the save at the end of each of its turns, ending the effect on a success. On a successful save the creature takes half damage and is not frightened. Creatures that are immune to being frightened automatically succeed on the save and take half damage.
Retracting Lash. When a creature within 10 feet attacks an ally of the Umbra-Leviathan while it can see both attacker and target, the Umbra-Leviathan can use its reaction to lash out with one tentacle at the attacker: Melee Weapon Attack: to hit, reach 10 ft., one target. Hit: 10 () bludgeoning damage.
