Thar’keth, the Buried Abomination

In the first age, Thar’keth devoured three solar systems before the collective gods of light sacrificed their physical forms to bind it. They built a monastery over the crater where it fell, staffing it with monks whose sole purpose was to maintain the containment rituals. Over millennia, the monks were corrupted by the creature’s presence, turning the monastery into a site of dark sacrifice that only strengthened the beast it was meant to starve.

Bound Divinity. Thar’keth is anchored to the monastery. It cannot move more than 100 feet from the center of its lair. However, its reach is increased by 30 feet for all melee attacks.
Legendary Resistance. If Thar’keth fails a saving throw, it can choose to succeed instead (5/Day).
Magic Resistance. Thar’keth has advantage on saving throws against spells and other magical effects.
Corrosive Ichor. A creature that touches Thar’keth or hits it with a melee attack while within 10 feet of it takes 21 () acid damage. The ground within 30 feet of Thar’keth is difficult terrain due to the acidic sludge.
Siege Monster. Thar’keth deals double damage to objects and structures.
Multiattack. Thar’keth uses its Maddening Gaze. It then makes three attacks: one with its Eviscerating Claw, one with its Barbed Tendril, and one with its Abyssal Maw.
Eviscerating Claw. Melee Weapon Attack: to hit, reach 40 ft., one target. Hit: 32 () slashing damage plus 18 () necrotic damage. If the target is a creature, it must succeed on a Constitution saving throw or its hit point maximum is reduced by an amount equal to the necrotic damage taken.
Barbed Tendril. Melee Weapon Attack: to hit, reach 60 ft., one target. Hit: 28 () piercing damage. The target is grappled (escape ). Until this grapple ends, the target is restrained and takes 14 () psychic damage at the start of each of its turns.
Abyssal Maw. Melee Weapon Attack: to hit, reach 15 ft., one target. Hit: 42 () piercing damage. If the target is a Large or smaller creature, it must succeed on a Dexterity saving throw or be swallowed. A swallowed creature is blinded and restrained, has total cover against attacks and other effects outside Thar’keth, and takes 42 () acid damage at the start of each of Thar’keth's turns.
Maddening Gaze. Thar’keth turns its eyes toward a point it can see within 120 feet. Each creature within 30 feet of that point must succeed on a Wisdom saving throw or take 45 () psychic damage and be stunned until the end of its next turn.
Eldritch Riposte. When a creature Thar’keth can see deals damage to it, Thar’keth can force that creature to make a Charisma saving throw. On a failure, the creature is teleported to an unoccupied space within 5 feet of Thar’keth and is grappled by a tendril.
Tendril Lash. Thar’keth makes one Barbed Tendril attack.
Void Pulse (Costs 2 Actions) (Costs 2 Actions). Thar’keth releases a wave of entropic energy. Each creature within 60 feet must make a Constitution saving throw, taking 35 () radiant damage on a failed save, or half as much on a success. Creatures that fail are also knocked prone.
Devour Magic (Costs 3 Actions) (Costs 3 Actions). Thar’keth targets a creature it can see within 90 feet. Any spell of 5th level or lower on the target ends, and the target must succeed on a Intelligence saving throw or lose its highest-level available spell slot. Thar’keth regains 10 hit points for each level of the slot lost.
3rd level
Dispel MagicAbjuration— At will. Thar’keth automatically dispels spells of 5th level or lower.
7th level
Reverse GravityTransmutation— 3/day. DC 26. Thar’keth uses this to pull enemies away from cover.
Plane ShiftConjuration— 3/day. Thar’keth attempts to banish a target to the Far Realm.
9th level
GateConjuration— 1/day. Used to summon eldritch horrors to assist in the fight.
