Blightwood Stalker

Folk tales call it the Heart of Rot. Hunters whisper of a still oak that turns living things into husks; druids fear that where one grows the old pacts with the forest are broken.

False Appearance. While motionless, the blight tree is indistinguishable from a dead tree or large snag.
Root Network. The blight tree has a network of shallow roots that extend into a 60-foot radius, giving it an awareness of vibrations in that area. The tree cannot be surprised while rooted.
Vulnerability to Fire. The blight tree is vulnerable to fire. Attacks that deal fire damage to it deal double damage. Its spores ignite from flame and disperse.
Crushing Boughs. Melee Weapon Attack: to hit, reach 10 ft., one target. Hit: 14 () bludgeoning damage. If the target is a creature Large or smaller, the blight tree can attempt to grapple the target (escape ). While grappled in this way, the target is restrained by choking vines and takes 7 () slashing damage at the start of each of the blight tree's turns until it breaks free.
Needle Volley. Ranged Weapon Attack: to hit, range 30/60 ft., one target. Hit: 10 () piercing damage plus 7 () poison damage. A creature hit by Needle Volley must succeed on a Constitution saving throw or be poisoned for 1 minute. A poisoned creature can repeat the saving throw at the end of each of its turns, ending the effect on a success.
Spore Burst. The blight tree releases a cloud of choking spores in a 15-foot radius centered on itself. Each creature in that area must make a Constitution saving throw, taking 21 () poison damage on a failed save, or half as much damage on a successful one. Creatures that fail the save are also blinded until the end of their next turn. Plant creatures and creatures that are immune to poison are unaffected.
Entangling Roots (Recharge 5-6). The blight tree extends hidden roots and thorned vines in a 20-foot radius. Creatures that start their turn in the area for the first time or that enter the area for the first time on a turn must succeed on a Strength saving throw or be restrained until the start of their next turn. A restrained creature can use its action to make a Strength check against the save DC, freeing itself on a success. The area becomes difficult terrain while the roots remain active. The blight tree can maintain or retract these roots as a bonus action.
Thorned Recoil. When a creature within 10 feet attacks a creature other than the blight tree, the tree lashes a vine at the attacker. Melee Weapon Attack: to hit, reach 10 ft., one target. Hit: 9 () slashing damage and the target must succeed on a Strength saving throw or be knocked prone.
