Travelers tell of a serpent so vast that it can swallow a shrine bell, a horse, or an entire sake barrel without slowing. In some regions, uwabami are feared as devourers of pilgrims. In others, they are treated as ancient river spirits whose tempers must be appeased with alcohol and offerings. The oldest tales claim that an uwabami becomes more powerful every time a settlement blames a natural disaster on its hunger.
Legendary Resilience.The uwabami has advantage on saving throws against being charmed, frightened, paralyzed, poisoned, or stunned.
Massive Serpent.The uwabami can move through a space as narrow as 10 feet wide without squeezing. Nonmagical difficult terrain does not cost it extra movement.
Sake-Scented Hunger.The uwabami's attacks are magical. It can detect the presence of alcohol within 120 feet, and it has advantage on Wisdom and Charisma checks made to locate, acquire, or bargain for alcohol.
Uncoiling Body.If the uwabami starts its turn grappled, restrained, or prone, it can use 10 feet of movement to end one of those conditions on itself.
Bottomless Appetite.The uwabami can eat and drink an amount of food or liquid that would fill a 20-foot cube over the course of 10 minutes. This does not meaningfully change its statistics, though it may become visibly distended and sluggish at the DM's discretion.
Disaster-Bearing Form.The uwabami's natural weapons deal double damage to objects and structures. It has advantage on Strength checks made to break, pull down, or move stone, wood, or earth.
Multiattack.The uwabami makes one Bite attack and one Constrict attack, or it uses Flooding Coil.
Bite.Melee Weapon Attack: to hit, reach 15 ft., one target. Hit: 22 () piercing damage plus 7 () poison damage. If the target is a Large or smaller creature, it is grappled, escape . Until this grapple ends, the target is restrained, and the uwabami cannot bite another target.
Constrict.Melee Weapon Attack: to hit, reach 15 ft., one creature grappled by the uwabami. Hit: 25 () bludgeoning damage, and the target must succeed on a Constitution saving throw or become poisoned until the end of its next turn.
Flooding Coil.The uwabami exhales a torrent of magically amplified sake and stormwater in a 60-foot cone. Each creature in that area must make a Dexterity saving throw, taking 45 () bludgeoning damage and falling prone on a failed save, or half as much damage on a successful one. The area becomes difficult terrain until the end of the uwabami's next turn. The uwabami can use this action only once per round.
Shapechanger.The uwabami chooses a pile of rocks, a tree, a humanoid, or another Large or smaller object or creature it can see within 120 feet and magically transforms into a vaguely serpentine version of that form. This transformation lasts until the uwabami dies, uses a bonus action to end it, or is incapacitated. Its statistics remain unchanged except for its size and appearance. It cannot use Bite, Constrict, or Flooding Coil while transformed, but it can speak and use its other traits.
Call the Landslide.The uwabami targets a point it can see within 120 feet. A 20-foot-radius, 40-foot-high cylinder of wind, loose stone, and surging water erupts there. Creatures in the area must make a Strength saving throw or take 18 () bludgeoning damage and be pushed up to 20 feet in a direction of the uwabami's choice. The area is difficult terrain until the end of the uwabami's next turn.
Devour Whole.The uwabami targets one creature it is grappling. The target must succeed on a Dexterity saving throw or be swallowed. A swallowed creature is blinded and restrained, has total cover against attacks and other effects outside the uwabami, and takes 21 () acid damage at the start of each of the uwabami's turns. If the uwabami takes 30 or more damage on a single turn from a creature inside it, it must succeed on a Constitution saving throw at the end of that turn or regurgitate all swallowed creatures, which fall prone in an unoccupied space within 10 feet. If the uwabami dies, a swallowed creature is no longer restrained and can escape from the corpse by using 20 feet of movement.
Disappear into the Wild.When the uwabami is hit by an attack while within 15 feet of water, loose stone, or dense vegetation, it can move up to 15 feet without provoking opportunity attacks. It can then become partially obscured by spray, dust, or foliage until the start of its next turn, granting it half cover.
Tail Sweep.The uwabami makes a tail attack against one creature within 15 feet. Hit: 15 () bludgeoning damage, and the target must succeed on a Strength saving throw or be pushed 10 feet.
Serpentine Surge (Costs 2 Actions).The uwabami moves up to half its speed without provoking opportunity attacks. Before or after this movement, it can force one creature within 5 feet of its path to succeed on a Dexterity saving throw or fall prone.
Mountain's Wrath (Costs 2 Actions).The uwabami uses Call the Landslide or ends one effect causing it to be grappled, restrained, or paralyzed.
