Water Mephit - AI-generated fantasy Monster

Water Mephit

Water mephits are lesser elemental troublemakers born where brine, mist, and heat churn together. On the waterfront they become especially bold, hiding in spray and pretending to be harmless puddles before striking at ankles, ropes, and lanterns. Sailors consider them bad luck, but dockside thieves often bargain with them because a mephit that can fog a pier and panic a guard is worth its weight in stolen silver.

False Appearance. While the mephit is motionless and in dim light, fog, spray, or shallow water, it is indistinguishable from a puddle, stain, or broken patch of steam.
Death Burst. When the mephit dies, it explodes in a burst of scalding spray. Each creature within 5 feet of it must make a Dexterity saving throw, taking 4 () fire damage on a failed save, or half as much damage on a successful one.
Dockside Skirmisher. The mephit has advantage on Stealth checks made in rain, mist, spray, or on slick dock surfaces, and it ignores difficult terrain created by shallow water or wet planks.
Claws. Melee Weapon Attack: to hit, reach 5 ft., one target. Hit: 5 () slashing damage plus 3 () fire damage.
Steam Breath. The mephit exhales scalding vapor in a 15-foot cone. Each creature in that area must make a Dexterity saving throw, taking 7 () fire damage on a failed save, or half as much damage on a successful one. A creature that fails the save also has its speed reduced by 10 feet until the end of its next turn.
Slip Away. When a creature the mephit can see hits it with a melee attack, the mephit can move up to 10 feet without provoking opportunity attacks, provided it ends this movement on a surface that is wet, slick, or adjacent to water.
