Banewood Tree - AI-generated fantasy Monster

Banewood Tree

Old Esthimere carpenters call the wood banewood because tools seem to catch against its grain, while furniture made from it can last for generations. They do not agree on whether the trees are born corrupted or changed by something beneath the forest. Occultists claim the black bark is not bark at all, but a protective shell grown around a mind that is slowly learning how to look outward.
