Gloomvine Stalker

Fisherfolk and woodcutters tell of living hedges that take a favorite hunter and leave nothing but tattered clothes. Scholars disagree on their origin. Some say they are a corrupted form of dryad symbiosis; others believe they are the deliberate creation of a long-dead druid who practiced decay magic.

Camouflage. The gloomvine stalker has advantage on Dexterity (Stealth) checks made to hide in foliage, underbrush, or shadowy ruins. It can attempt to Hide as a bonus action while lightly obscured by its own spores.
Plant Traits. The gloomvine stalker does not breathe, is immune to poison damage, and does not need to eat or sleep. It is vulnerable to fire damage; whenever it takes fire damage, it takes an additional 3 () damage.
Vine Reach. The gloomvine stalker can extend a vine up to 15 feet to make attacks and to initiate grapples. The vine can pass through openings as small as 2 inches wide.
Multiattack. The gloomvine stalker makes two attacks: one with its Vine Lash and one with its Constricting Bite.
Vine Lash. Melee Weapon Attack: to hit, reach 15 ft., one target. Hit: 8 () bludgeoning damage, and the target must succeed on a Strength saving throw or be grappled (escape ). While grappled in this way, the target is restrained and takes 7 () necrotic damage at the start of each of the gloomvine stalker's turns as the vines leech vitality. The gloomvine stalker can grapple only one creature at a time.
Constricting Bite. Melee Weapon Attack: to hit, reach 5 ft., one target. Hit: 6 () piercing damage plus 4 () necrotic damage. If the target is restrained by the gloomvine stalker, the bite deals an additional 4 () necrotic damage.
Gloom Spores. The gloomvine stalker exhales a pall of dusky spores in a 10-foot radius centered on itself. Each creature in that area must succeed on a Constitution saving throw or be blinded until the end of its next turn and have disadvantage on Wisdom (Perception) checks that rely on sight for 1 minute. A creature can repeat the saving throw at the end of each of its turns, ending the effect on a success. The gloomvine stalker can use this feature once, and regains the ability to do so after finishing a short or long rest.
Snapback. When a creature the gloomvine stalker can see within 10 feet hits it with a melee attack, the stalker lashes out with a quick vine. The attacker must succeed on a Dexterity saving throw or have its speed reduced to 0 until the end of its next turn as vines seize its legs.
