Leyline Mastiff

Fisherfolk and shepherds tell of ghostly dogs who lead lost travelers to safe places and then vanish. Wizards claim Leyline Mastiffs are born where a stray spell landed in fertile ground and the land itself stitched the magic into local fauna. Some hedge witches keep rescued pups as watchdogs for their ley shrines.

Luminous Veins. The mastiff sheds dim light in a 5 foot radius when under moonlight or in the presence of strong ley traces. This light is harmless. In darkness the mastiff's veins pulse faintly, granting it advantage on Stealth checks made to approach from shadows.
Leyline Attunement. The mastiff can always tell the direction of the nearest strong leyline within 1 mile. It has advantage on Wisdom (Survival) checks made to track creatures that have recently used magic, and it can detect the presence of active spell effects within 30 feet as if it were using detect magic. This sense does not reveal specifics, only presence and rough strength.
Arc Flourish. The mastiff stores stray magical energy in its pelt. Whenever the mastiff would take radiant damage it reduces that damage by 5 instead. If it reduces radiant damage in this way it gains temporary hit points equal to half the damage prevented, up to 5 temporary hit points.
Pack Momentum. If the mastiff successfully grapples or knocks a creature prone with its Bite attack, it can release a surge that counts as a shove action without using its reaction.
Faerie Fur. Once per short rest the mastiff can spend an action to emit a Faerie Fire effect centered on a point it can see within 30 feet. The effect does not require concentration.
Bite. Melee Weapon Attack: to hit, reach 5 ft., one target. Hit: 12 () piercing damage. If the target is a creature smaller than the mastiff, it is also knocked prone ( Strength save) as the mastiff slams into it with heavy momentum.
Pounce Strike. The mastiff leaps onto a creature within 10 feet and makes one bite attack with advantage. If the bite hits, the target takes an additional 3 () radiant damage as stored ley energy surges.
Leyline Howl. Recharge 5-6. A low, resonant howl vibrates with Hathean ley energy. Each creature of the mastiff's choice within 30 feet that can hear it must succeed on a Wisdom saving throw or be charmed or frightened (mastiff's choice) until the end of its next turn. Creatures that succeed are immune to the mastiff's Howl for 24 hours.
Protective Charge. If a creature within 5 feet attacks an ally of the mastiff, it can use its reaction to move up to half its speed without provoking opportunity attacks and make one Bite attack at advantage.

Faerie Fire (Innate)Evocation As a natural attunement to local magic the mastiff can emit a Faerie Fire effect once per short rest. This functions like the faerie fire spell centered on a point the mastiff can see within 30 feet, no concentration required. The effect lasts for 1 minute.
