Species
Rock gnome
Appearance
Nima is a compact rock gnome woman with the dense, practical build of someone who has spent a century leaning into anvils. Her skin is warm umber with a fine dusting of coppery freckles across her nose and knuckles. Her iron-gray hair is braided into four short cords, each threaded with tiny washers that click softly when she turns her head. She moves with a peculiar forward tilt, as if perpetually listening to a furnace, yet when she stops she becomes unnervingly still. She smells strongly of hot brass, cedar oil, and sugared plums, and she is genuinely unaware of the fruit scent because she uses plum syrup to polish her tools. Her smile is quick and lopsided, but her hands remain perfectly steady even when she is furious. The contradictory impression she leaves is of a fussy little craftswoman who somehow occupies a room like a fortress gate.
“Fast, clipped, and richly specific. Nima speaks as though every sentence is a measurement she has already checked.”

Distinguishing Features
Four short braids threaded with clicking washers
A plum-scented polish that clings to her gloves and tools
A left boot that makes no sound because she replaced its sole with layered felt and spring steel
A brass measuring chain worn around her neck like a necklace
A habit of standing perfectly still while everyone else is moving
Voice
“A quick, smoky alto with a faint Welsh lilt and occasional clipped Gnomish consonants. When exhausted, her voice drops to a near whisper and every word becomes unnervingly precise.”
Clothing
A soot-brown smith's apron over a dark teal tunic, reinforced trousers, knee-high boots with magnetic soles, fingerless gloves, and a belt crowded with labeled brass tools. Her apron is embroidered with tiny silver plum blossoms, a sentimental detail she denies is sentimental.
Body Language
Nima leans toward voices, taps metal surfaces while thinking, and keeps one hand near a tool belt even during friendly conversation. Her stillness is more striking than her movement. When she trusts someone, she casually turns her back to them while working, a significant gesture for someone who normally watches every door.
