Qasim ibn-Rakin al-Azraq
Battle Commander
Qasim ibn-Rakin al-Azraq
Species
Air Genasi
Appearance
Qasim is a broad-shouldered air genasi with sun-bronzed skin that seems faintly dusted in silver whenever he stands in strong light. His square jaw is crossed by pale wind-scars, and his tired blue-gray eyes constantly measure distances, exits, weapons, and hands. His black hair lifts and settles as if touched by an invisible breeze, even in sealed rooms. He moves with economical military precision, never wasting a step, yet his cloak sometimes drifts in the wrong direction, as though a private wind follows him. The first impression he leaves is of a weathered iron gate: severe, immovable, and built to keep something worse out.
“His speech is clipped, low, and exact, with the cadence of a field report. He rarely uses contractions during official business.”

Distinguishing Features
A thin spiral of wind circles his right wrist whenever he is lying by omission.
His left ear is pierced with a simple iron ring taken from a dead laborer at the Red Tally Revolt.
The edges of his hair drift upward even indoors.
His commander's cloak is patched with fabric from seven different garrisons.
He carries a signal horn whose tone is cracked, but every veteran of the Vanguard recognizes it.
Voice
“A low, dry baritone that sounds worn smooth by sand and command. When he raises it, the air seems to tighten around each word.”
Clothing
He wears heavily reinforced, heat-treated scale mail beneath a dust-stained commander's cloak. Iron-shod greaves protect his legs, while wrapped leather guards cover his forearms. His belt carries a water ration tube, a folded enforcement charter, chalk for marking doors, and a small brass compass that points toward the nearest reliable water source.
Body Language
He stands with his weight balanced as if expecting the ground to shift. His left hand rests near his scimitar only when he is afraid. When angry, he becomes unnaturally still, while loose fabric and nearby dust begin to stir.
