Appearance
Nessa is a thin, limber young woman whose movements seem to continue half a heartbeat after she stops, as if the music has lodged in her bones. Her pale skin is dusted with dense freckles across her shoulders, collarbones, and the bridge of her nose. Her lightly curly hair is the muted gold-brown of oat straw, usually gathered loosely so curls escape around her temples. She has a narrow face, a strong little jaw, and slightly prominent front teeth that show whenever she laughs. Her breathing is normally soft and measured, almost inaudible, but when frightened it becomes a series of quick, birdlike catches. The unexpected detail is her hands: elegant and dancerly at a distance, but heavily callused across the palms from years of hauling scenery, climbing rigging, and defending herself backstage. She leaves people with the impression of warmth in motion, followed by the curious realization that she noticed every exit.
“Her normal voice is low, clear, and lightly musical, with an unexpected roughness at the edges from years of singing over tavern noise. She speaks quickly when excited and leaves deliberate pauses when bargaining.”

Voice
“Low, clear, and musical, with a rough edge from tavern singing. Her laugh begins as a silent shoulder shake and ends in a bright, sudden chirp. When frightened, she speaks in short phrases between quick catches of breath.”
Clothing
She wears layered saffron, coral, and wine-red silk robes cut to reveal glimpses of her sides, knees, and lower back during movement, over a fitted linen wrap and close dance shorts. Small brass bells ring at one ankle, while the other ankle is bare. Her costume is alluring onstage but carefully constructed for mobility, with hidden pockets sewn into the inner folds. She wears soft leather slippers, a copper thread bracelet, and no necklace.
Body Language
Nessa rarely stands still. When listening, she rocks subtly from heel to toe and traces invisible rhythms with one finger against her thigh. Her posture is open and inviting in public, but her shoulders narrow and her weight shifts toward the nearest exit whenever authority figures enter. When embarrassed, she presses her tongue briefly against one prominent front tooth.
