Appearance
Orelia is a compact human woman with weather-browned skin, broad knuckles, and the steady balance of someone accustomed to walking wet roads with a full pack. She waits with most of her weight on the balls of her feet, one heel lifted as though the next mile has already begun. Her black hair is braided close to the scalp on one side and gathered into a rough coil beneath her hood on the other. Her face is plain at first glance, but her attention makes it difficult to look away from her. She has a small, soft mouth that seems built for reassurance, and hands that never stop working, usually turning a torn glove inside out while she listens. The unexpected thing about her is her delicacy. She handles thread, paper, and frightened people with the care of a jeweler, yet she can shoulder a loaded courier's chest and run uphill without changing her breathing.
“Her voice is low, patient, and slightly husky from years of cold air and roadside smoke. She pauses for a breath before speaking, then chooses plain words with careful precision.”

Distinguishing Features
Her left thumb is stained permanently blue from courier's sealing wax and never quite scrubs clean.
She pauses for one quiet breath through her nose before speaking, even when answering simple questions.
The soles of her boots are wrapped with thin strips of felt to quiet her steps on wooden floors.
She carries a tiny brass bell with its clapper removed, worn smooth from years of rubbing it while thinking.
Voice
“A quiet alto with a dry warmth, like cloth rubbed between careful fingers; when danger appears, it becomes brisk and almost bright.”
Clothing
A faded rust-red wool coat patched at the elbows, a charcoal hood, layered linen, wrapped trousers, thick wool socks, and soft-soled riding boots. Narrow woven bands in ochre, indigo, and cream mark the seams of her courier's satchel. She wears fingerless gloves that she is constantly repairing.
Body Language
Orelia stands slightly angled toward the nearest exit, with one heel lifted and her hands occupied by needlework. When someone lies, her stitching slows by a single deliberate pull. When she trusts someone, she finally plants both feet flat.
