Species

Other, divine dragon

Appearance

Qhapaq is a colossal green-hued dragon with a long, river-serpent body and the broad, weight-bearing limbs of a mountain predator. His scales are not uniformly colored. They range from moss green along his shoulders to deep lake-green beneath his jaw, with thin bronze seams between them that glimmer when he moves. Hair-like bronze tendrils spill from his snout and the back of his head, each one jointed like a reed and tipped with a bead of condensed rain. His tail ends in a fan of long, wet-looking feathers that never drip, even in a storm. He walks with deliberate, almost priestly care, placing each claw as if testing the stability of the world. Within a minute of meeting him, most people notice his teeth: the front pair are broad and blunt like carved ivory, while the rear teeth are fine and numerous, giving his rare smile the unsettling look of a river full of pale fish. His contradictory feature is his voice and manner. Despite his immense, storm-bearing body, he handles small objects with absurd delicacy and becomes visibly nervous around fragile pottery.

Distinguishing Features

Bronze tendrils extend from his snout and the back of his skull like living metallic hair.

His tail terminates in a broad fan of dry, feather-like plumes that bend toward nearby water.

His broad front teeth are visible even when his mouth is closed.

The bells on his bronze harness ring only when someone nearby lies.

Fine turquoise mineral dust gathers naturally between his scales after he has slept.

Voice

A deep, rain-worn baritone that can become a child's clear whisper when the buried memory surfaces.

Clothing

He wears no conventional clothing, but a broad ceremonial harness of braided llama wool, hammered bronze plates, and river-shell discs rests across his chest. Small votive bells hang from the harness, though they ring only when someone nearby lies.

Body Language

Qhapaq keeps his head slightly lowered when listening, but his feathered tail rises behind him like a priest's fan when he has made a decision. His bronze tendrils coil tightly around his jaw when he is angry and loosen into slow spirals when he is amused.
