Moth-Keeper Dor Vane-Solis

0·Male·Large
Lawful neutral, with an increasingly authoritarian interpretation of justice

Species

Brass Dragonborn

Appearance

Moth-Keeper Dor Vane-Solis is a broad-shouldered brass dragonborn whose rugged metallic scales have the matte texture of old hammered coin rather than the gleam of polished armor. His amber eyes remain steady and almost kindly during ordinary hearings, but become bright and furnace-like when he delivers a sentence. He moves with deliberate economy, never rushing and never wasting a gesture, yet his sheer mass makes every turn feel like the repositioning of a siege engine. He smells faintly of hot brass, lamp oil, archival dust, and bitter orange peel, a scent he insists comes from the Bastion's fumigation incense. His hands are unusually memorable: thick, square-fingered, and permanently darkened at the nails from decades of handling ink, sealing wax, weapon grips, and prison keys. The unexpected contradiction is that this terrifying enforcer has an almost delicate habit of smoothing loose pages with the side of one claw before reading them.

Height7 feet 1 inch
BuildMassive and broad-shouldered, with the dense, work-hardened physique of a veteran soldier and executioner
EyesSteady amber with a furnace-orange glow when invoking divine power
HairNo hair, though a narrow ridge of dark brass spines runs from crown to nape
SkinBurnished brass with darker, soot-colored scales around the joints and along the spine

His voice is low, resonant, and carefully paced, with the dry warmth of a bell heard through furnace smoke. He rarely raises it.”

Distinguishing Features

A scarred brass executioner's mask hangs from his belt and softly taps against his armor when he walks

Tiny dust moths cling to his cloak and sometimes emerge from the folds of his mantle during tense hearings

His hands are broad and ink-stained, with blackened claw tips from years of handling seals, ledgers, and prison keys

His armor smells of hot metal, lamp oil, and bitter orange incense

He keeps a single pale moth sealed beneath the translucent face of his judicial signet

Voice

A deep, restrained baritone with the measured cadence of a court clerk and the underlying vibration of a banked furnace

Clothing

Immaculate heavy plate armor burnished to a warm copper sheen, each plate etched with inquisitorial statutes in tiny angular script. Over it he wears a dark saffron judicial mantle lined with black wool and weighted at the hem with small brass seals. A terrifying, scarred brass executioner's mask hangs from his belt by a thick iron chain. Dust moths frequently cling to the mantle despite repeated fumigation.

Body Language

Dor stands squarely with both feet planted, as though awaiting an earthquake. He keeps one hand near the chain of his executioner's mask and rests the other lightly on his warhammer. During honest testimony, he lowers his head to listen. During lies, one thumb slowly rubs the raised seal on his gauntlet.
