Appearance

Morrow-of-the-Open-Hand is a compact, broad-shouldered person whose body has the dense, weathered look of something built for furnace rooms and mountain roads. Their skin is deep umber, dry at the knuckles, and polished smooth across the forearms by years of brasswork, scrubbing, and wind. Their jaw is square and powerful, with blunt lower teeth capped in dull copper. When they laugh, which is rare but startlingly warm, the copper flashes like coins at the bottom of a well. Their movements are economical and slightly delayed, as though every gesture must pass through an internal calculation before becoming real. They smell of cloves, hot metal, clean linen, and rain trapped in stone. The contradictory impression is immediate: despite their intimidating size and tyrant's posture, they handle cups, bandages, and frightened children with the feather-light delicacy of a jeweler.

Low, measured, and gently rasping, with the precise cadence of someone dictating a medical report. When angry, Morrow's voice becomes softer rather than louder.”

Distinguishing Features

Blunt lower teeth capped in dull copper, visible whenever Morrow speaks with unusual intensity.

Hands darkened at the palms by permanent brass polish and medicinal resin.

A slow, deliberate gait that makes every step sound like a verdict.

A belt hung with tiny glass ampoules that chime whenever the fortress changes direction.

Their laugh begins as a cough and ends with a bright, unexpected musical note.

Voice

A warm contralto with a rasp like paper drawn across brass. Every sentence sounds measured for dosage, distance, and consequence.

Clothing

A sleeveless charcoal coat reinforced with overlapping brass scales, a high linen collar, dark trousers tucked into knee-high oilskin boots, and a white clinic apron stained with turmeric, soot, and old blood. A chain of tiny medicine bottles hangs from the belt beside a ring of fortress keys.

Body Language

Morrow keeps one palm open at waist height, a habit from their years of surrendering weapons during negotiations. Their shoulders remain square even when exhausted. During moments of shame, they polish the copper caps on their teeth with the edge of a sleeve. When angered, they stop moving entirely, becoming more statue than person.
