Idris is a narrow-shouldered man with the tense, folded posture of someone perpetually bracing for bad news. His movements are quick but economical, with sudden pauses whenever he senses a leyline shift. His hands are stained permanently blue-black from enchanted surveyor's ink, and fine silver scars branch from his left wrist like frozen lightning. He has a tired, intelligent face, a crooked nose, and a mouth that seems ready either to apologize or issue a precise correction. Despite his nervous demeanor, he moves with the delicate balance of a dancer on a ship's deck. The unexpected contradiction is his laugh, which is loud, warm, and infectious, utterly at odds with his haunted appearance.
