The Fourfold Conduit
You enter a circular chamber beneath the city, where damp stone meets soot-blackened brick and the air tastes faintly of copper. Four brass valves surround a central dial, marked by symbols for earth, water, air, and fire. A dry basin cuts channels toward a sealed bronze door, while a wall-mounted waterwheel gives a nervous twitch. Above the door, four colored lenses glow faintly, and somewhere behind the masonry, something heavy shifts as if the chamber is waiting for the correct order.
