The Fourfold Vault

The circular vault is lined with dark stone and ribs of tarnished bronze. Four waist-high dials stand around a sealed door, each etched with a seed, a blazing sun, a falling leaf, and a snowflake. Frost gathers around the snowflake symbols despite the chamber's dry air, while the seed symbols smell faintly of turned soil. A black stone seal occupies the center of the mechanism, and four dull indicator lamps wait above it. Somewhere behind the walls, a slow pendulum ticks, though no clock is visible.
