The Ward of the Threefold Vigil

You enter a circular chamber whose walls are built from blue-black stone veined with tarnished bronze. At its center stands a waist-high apparatus of three interlocking rings, each carved with unfamiliar symbols. A cold blue glow leaks from one ring, warm amber light flickers beneath another, and a hair-thin beam trembles across a cracked silver mirror. Dust lies everywhere except along three deliberate paths around the pedestal. Whenever the ruins groan, the apparatus answers with a low metallic heartbeat.

The Threefold Vigil

The bronze plates bear six symbols each. Their names are not written, but the wall relief above the apparatus shows the following inscription:

First comes the wanderer who crosses the dark.
Second comes the heart that refuses the dark.
Last comes the eye that guards them both.

On the pedestal, three short lines appear beneath the rings:

Let the sky be named.
Let the flame be fed.
Let the watcher awaken.

When a ring is turned, one nearby object responds. The blue crystal answers the first ring. The amber flame answers the second. The silver mirror answers the third.
