You enter a circular temple antechamber of black basalt and tarnished bronze. Four scales stand around a mosaic of an eye, a balanced scale, an open hand, and a crowned blade. Pale light leaks from hairline cracks in the walls, pulsing in a slow, even rhythm. The sealed doorway bears four empty recesses, while the air carries the dry scent of dust and hot metal. Whenever anyone approaches a scale, its needle trembles toward the center, then returns to zero with a solemn chime.
