The Smoke-Crowned Hall
The hall began as a winter refuge for caravan guards who could not afford city lodging. Its first owner built the central hearth from stones hauled out of a stubborn field where burdock grew through every crop. Over generations, the refuge became a meeting place for guildmasters, mercenary captains, foreign envoys, and adventurers returning from impossible expeditions. The current hall was rebuilt after a fire in the Year of the Screaming Crows, when the chimney collapsed but the hearth refused to go cold.
