The Cut
The tavern began as a maintenance shelter beside an abandoned elven transit passage. Its first owners used the place to hide stolen relics and fugitives, shortening the passage's old description, 'the cut-through below,' to simply 'the Cut.' Over generations, the shelter became a permanent den for smugglers, burglars, deserters, bandits, and anyone who needed a door that opened only from the inside. The current keeper purchased it after winning a three-night card game and has spent years making the den safer, quieter, and more profitable.
