The Broken Compact
Stakes If the old agreements collapse, borders, trade routes, and protective wards will fail across the continent.

Hook
A prosperous market town discovers that every witness to its founding oath has died on the same night.
Averra is a round, temperate world whose roads, borders, and safest settlements were built around ancient public oaths. These promises are not mere tradition: when honored, they steady weather, keep old monsters dormant, and make travel possible. Now rulers break treaties for profit, frontier communities withdraw into local pacts, and the protections holding civilization together are failing. Heroes must choose which promises deserve saving, and what justice demands when every side remembers the past differently.
