Hook
Every station in this prosperous port belt has a timetable for a route that no longer exists.
Esterra is a high-magic industrial world where every road can become a weapon. Elpine surrounds the Great Sand Sea with pine barrens, bogs, subtropical coasts, mountains, and company towns. Across the Vast Sea, Redplain remains scarred by two hundred years of civil war. Steamships, airships, railways, caravan roads, and magical routes bind the continents together, though some routes arrive altered, armed, or somewhere else entirely.

The Redplain Reckoning
A fragile peace may become a new federation, another civil war, or a company-controlled frontier ruled by debt and armed rail.
To own the anchors, engines, and patents that make long-distance magical travel possible, regardless of which nations must be displaced.
To keep Elpine independent while balancing trade, migration, military defense, and the competing ambitions of its five nations.
To preserve local control of water, routes, and caravan law against companies and distant governments.
To rebuild Redplain through a single federal authority, even if old provinces must be disarmed or conquered to achieve it.

Stakes A fragile peace may become a new federation, another civil war, or a company-controlled frontier ruled by debt and armed rail.
Early peoples learned to draw power from the deep currents beneath Esterra, raising cities, roads, and towers that promised mastery over distance and weather.
Steam engines, railways, and company charters transformed travel while nations fortified trade routes and turned old magical practices into profitable infrastructure.
Two centuries of civil war shattered Redplain, displaced millions, and left veterans, raiders, and rival governments contesting every border and harbor.
Magical routes now spread across the world, shortening journeys or throwing travelers into lethal detours as companies, nations, and desperate communities fight for control.
A newly anchored route begins delivering trains filled with passengers who vanished during the Long Fracture, each insisting only one night has passed.
A desert company offers payment to protect surveyors, but its proposed railway crosses a buried battlefield whose dead have begun marching toward the rails.
Refugee leaders ask the party to escort a peace delegation across Redplain while three armies, two corporations, and a ghost regiment hunt them.
An airship route starts opening above villages instead of its intended ports, dropping cargo, monsters, and fragments of another world.
The route network is not infrastructure but a dormant world-spanning device.
