Circle of the Mating Season

Druids of the Circle of the Mating Season guard the forces that draw living things together: attraction, courtship, nesting, pollination, migration, and the fierce protection of new life. They are not merely gentle caretakers. In the height of the season, they become magnetic, territorial, and difficult to separate from the living world around them. Their magic encourages allies to move as a pack, turns enemies against their own aggression, and calls beasts to defend a shared future. The circle's power is strongest when companions stand close, protect one another, and act in harmony.

You are a full Druid spellcaster. Your subclass features emphasize Wild Shape, protective auras, beast companionship, and battlefield control; they do not change your normal Druid spellcasting progression.

Summon Elemental Calls a seasonal force of wind, water, earth, or flame to serve the grove.

5th-Level Spells

Awaken Grants a plant or beast the reason and voice to join a community.
Greater Restoration Repairs severe afflictions that corrupt the natural cycle.
Insect Plague Summons a massive cloud of creatures associated with pollination and ecological balance.
Mass Cure Wounds Restores an entire group as the circle gathers around its wounded.

Multiclassing

This is a Druid subclass. Multiclass characters must meet the Druid multiclass prerequisite of Wisdom 13. Circle of the Mating Season features use Wisdom, Wild Shape, your spell save DC, and your Proficiency Bonus; they do not grant additional weapon, armor, or tool proficiencies.

Training & Initiation

A candidate spends an entire seasonal cycle living within a wild community without taking more than they give. They must observe courtship, nesting, migration, birth, and decline, then protect a vulnerable group through one dangerous transition. Initiation ends with the candidate choosing a living companion who approaches freely; no beast may be captured, compelled, or purchased for the rite.

Societal Perception

Rural communities often welcome these druids during planting, migration, and birthing seasons, while city officials may view them as unpredictable agitators. Some people mistake their rituals for crude fertility worship, but experienced communities understand that the circle's central principles are reciprocity, consent, and protection of living cycles.
